06 - 15 millilitres sesame oil
07 - 2 garlic cloves, minced
08 - 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
09 - 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
10 - Salt, to taste
11 - Black pepper, to taste

→ For Serving

12 - Sliced green onions, for garnish
13 - Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish

# Steps:

01 - In a mixing bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, Chinese rice wine, sesame oil, minced garlic, five-spice powder, ground ginger, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until thoroughly blended.
02 - Place chicken pieces in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring all surfaces are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or ideally overnight for optimal flavour absorption.
03 - Preheat a grill to medium-high heat. Cook marinated chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side, until lightly charred and fully cooked through.
04 - Preheat oven to 200°C. Arrange chicken in a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, turning and basting with extra marinade halfway through.
05 - Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 5-6 minutes per side, ensuring caramelisation and thorough cooking.
06 - Allow chicken to rest for several minutes after cooking. Slice, then garnish with green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

# Notes:

01 - For best results, marinate the chicken overnight to maximise depth of flavour.
